The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement is a Palestinian-led, global movement striving for freedom, justice, and equality for the Palestinian people. Founded in 2005, the movement aims to apply pressure on Israel to end its occupation and colonization of Palestinian lands, recognize the fundamental rights of Palestinians, and respect the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes⁽¹⁾.

The BDS movement works to build economic boycotts against Israel and develop effective campaigns against companies involved in the Israeli oppression of Palestinians. These campaigns include boycotting Israeli products, divesting from companies complicit in Israeli violations, and imposing sanctions on Israel until it complies with international law and human rights principles⁽²⁾.

The movement has achieved significant successes, with major companies such as Veolia and Orange withdrawing from Israeli projects following strong pressure campaigns by BDS activists worldwide⁽²⁾. Additionally, the movement uses social media to draw attention to its activities and organize demonstrations and protests targeting companies involved in Israeli violations.
