Palestine
The Palestinian issue is one of the most complex issues in the world, deeply rooted in historical and political contexts. The problem primarily began with the establishment of the Zionist movement in the late 19th century, which called for the creation of a national homeland for Jews in Palestine. This led to massive Jewish immigration to the region and their settlement, causing resentment among the indigenous Palestinian population⁽¹⁾⁽²⁾.
After World War I, the League of Nations placed Palestine under British mandate, which further increased tensions between Jews and Palestinians. In 1947, the United Nations issued a resolution to partition Palestine into two states, one Jewish and one Arab. However, this resolution was not fully implemented and led to the outbreak of the 1948 War and the establishment of the State of Israel⁽²⁾⁽³⁾.
The Palestinian issue revolves around several key points, including the right of return for Palestinian refugees, the legitimacy of the State of Israel, the occupation of Palestinian territories, the massacres committed against Palestinians, and United Nations resolutions related to the issue such as Resolution 194 and Resolution 242⁽⁴⁾⁽⁵⁾.
